Beltal will remove feedback ratings and comments if they meet the
standard for feedback abused outlined below in this page.
Members should use caution and good judgment when leaving
feedback for another member, because:
Feedback cannot be edited or removed once it has been left. It
generally becomes a permanent part of a member's Beltal record and
is viewable by the entire Beltal.
Members could be held legally responsible for damages to a
member's reputation if a court were to find that the remarks
constitute libel or defamation. Because Beltal does not censor
feedback or investigate it for accuracy, Beltal is not legally
responsible for the remarks that members post, even if those
remarks are defamatory. However, the law does not protect the
person who leaves the feedback from responsibility for it.
Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions,
including:
Listing cancellation
Account suspension
Feedback removal
Bad practices about
Feedback
Abuse
If a member includes another
member's name or phone number in a feedback comment, Beltal will
remove the feedback upon request of the seller. Contacts are not
allowed to be leave in any feedback.
Manipulation
Feedback left or received
where the feedback's primary value is to artificially enhance a
member's reputation rather than provide commentary on genuine
transactional experience is not permitted. As such, offering to
sell, buy or barter feedback is not permitted. In addition,
registering multiple accounts (or working with others) in order to
exchange feedback to artificially increase your feedback score is
not permitted.
Following are some examples of this practice:
It is not allowed to include the term
"feedback" or any reference to Beltal feedback in the item title
or description. The only exception is when the term "feedback"
directly describes the item listed.
It is not allowed to offer to buy, sell or
barter feedback in an email or in the item description.
It is not allowed to communicate with a
member offering to pay them for their user name.
Extortion
Threatening to leave negative
or neutral feedback for another member unless the other member
provides goods or services not included in the original listing is
not permitted.
No feedback extortion:
"The goods were supposed to arrive three days ago, if they are
not here by tomorrow I will leave you negative feedback."
"If I don't receive payment within two days, I will leave
negative feedback."
"The item is different than the description; if you don't
replace it I will leave you negative feedback."
How to act if you suffer these
practices
If you have experienced feedback abuse,
manipulation or extortion, please contact us indicating both parties
Email and transaction number. Please include the full header of any
email you send as evidence. This helps us determine the email
origin.
Feedback removal
Feedback that meets any of the circumstances below is
feedback abuse and may be subject to removal.
Feedback that doesn't meet any of these reasons
outlined below will not be removed:
Beltal is provided with a valid court order finding that the
disputed feedback is slanderous, libelous, defamatory or otherwise
illegal.
The feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or
racist language or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as
"fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc., while strongly
discouraged, will not be removed.
The feedback comment contains personal identifying information
about another member, including real name, address, phone number,
or e-mail address.
The feedback makes reference to a Beltal or law enforcement
organization investigation.
The feedback comment contains links or scripts.
Negative feedback intended for another member will be
considered for removal only in situations where the member
responsible for the mistaken posting informs Beltal of the error
and has already placed the same feedback for the correct member.
Feedback left by a member who provided Beltal with false
contact information and could not be contacted. In general, the
transaction period is considered to be 90 days from the end of the
listing or 30 days from the date the feedback was left, whichever
was longer.
Feedback left by a member who purchased an item solely to have
the opportunity to leave negative feedback for the seller, with no
intention of completing the transaction.
